چکیده
Background: Assessment of the fusional vergence amplitudes constitutes one most important diagnostic tools to obtain information about ability maintain binocular vision. Several techniques can be used assess this function. However, those methods are not interchangeable, and measurement repeatability has been questioned. Objective: This study aimed compare range measurements using prism bars synoptophore in Sudanese patients with near exophoria Methods: The was a comparative cross-sectional hospital-based, performed vision clinic at Al-Neelain Eye Hospital. Fusional (positive negative) were measured on 122 (67 females 55 males), mean age standard deviation 16.79 ± 5.22 years old bar methods. Results: findings showed that higher positive obtained method (24.7 7.2 Δ base-out), whereas provided lower finding (22.6± 7.6 base-out). Conversely, revealed for negative (13.9± 3.9 base-in) than (12.7± 3.7 base-in). Using t-test, significant differences found between all two techniques, P<0.05. Measurements by no relationship vergence, P>0.05. Conclusion: Given difference results measuring amplitudes, caution should taken when making decisions regarding assessment latent manifest strabismus.

Comparison of Amplitudes of Fusional Vergence in Patients with Asthenopic and Asymptomatic Near Exophoria
Purpose: To compare fusional vergence amplitudes in patients with symptomatic and asymptomatic near exophoria Methods: This cross-sectional study included 102 patients with near exophoria and asthenopia and 86 with asymptomatic near exophoria, all of whom were aged 15-35 years and had best corrected far visual acuity better than 20/25. Far and near fusional vergence amplitudes were evaluated in...

متن کاملFusional Vergence Detected by Prism Bar and Synoptophore in Chinese Childhood Intermittent Exotropia
Purpose. To measure the changes in fusional vergence in Chinese children with intermittent exotropia (IXT) and the association with the control of IXT. Methods. Ninety-two patients with IXT (8-15 years old) were compared with 86 controls. Exodeviation control was evaluated using the Revised Newcastle Control Score. Angle of deviation was measured using prism and alternate cover testing at dista...
متن کاملIs the Aligning Prism Measured with the Mallett Unit Correlated with Fusional Vergence Reserves?
BACKGROUND The Mallett Unit is a clinical test designed to detect the fixation disparity that is most likely to occur in the presence of a decompensated heterophoria. It measures the associated phoria, which is the "aligning prism" needed to nullify the subjective disparity. The technique has gained widespread acceptance within professions such as optometry, for investigating suspected cases of...
